I'm supposed to write ten things about myself and I've been thinking about this a lot. You see, there are lots of things I would love to share with you. I think of you all as friends and I like the idea of sharing more about our lives. However, I don't feel comfortable posting some things here, for the whole internet to see.
Thea of That Yarn Store recently wrote an interesting post about how much to share on the internet. It's a tricky decision that I'm faced with every time I write a post. I want to write more things about myself, because I enjoy blogs that combine crafty stuff with details of the person who writes it. Makes it more personal I guess and I think it's a lot more fun to read. But, if I did, anyone could read it and that's a little scary.
So.... Here are ten things that were on my mind these days :)
{1.} Housework
I love the smell of clean laundry in my house. I wash everything a lot more often than is necessary. I keep my house very clean, however it's always untidy. But...I hate washing the dishes. I would love to get a dishwasher, but sadly I don't have room for one.
{2.} Spinning
I got a spinning wheel! I'm really excited, she's beautiful. Yes, she's a girl but she doesn't have a name yet. She'll soon be making her first appearance on the blog.
I also got fiber. Beautiful, soft, fluffy fiber in many colors. I can't wait to start spinning it. I'm a little busy these days so I'm trying to control myself. I know that once I start, I'll be spending many hours spinning. Also, I have a bit of a dilemma: I want to try all kinds of different fiber blends and lots of colors so I can see how they mix. But, I'm not very good yet and I feel like I'll be wasting good fiber.
(Fiber is from FatCatKnits: Rosewood Merino and Jasmine Merino/Bamboo)
{3.} I love the sea... Looking forward to a few days of vacation, although I'm really busy now and I don't know when I'll be able to go.
{4.} I started a knitting group in Thessaloniki. So far, the biggest meeting was six people, but I hope we can get more members. My dream is that knitting will become popular in Greece and we can have big knitting events, like the ones in other countries.
{5.} Books
I love the Hamish Macbeth series by M. C. Beaton. These books aren't new but I only discovered them recently. Great writing, very funny and excellent mysteries in a little town in Scotland.
{6.} Starting today, I'm going on a yarn diet. The stash is out of control and it's getting hard for me to find what I'm looking for. I'm also getting very confused; I have all this pretty yarn and a million projects in my mind but not enough time. I think that it's good that I announce it here; these things are easier for me to do if I tell everyone about it first!
{7.} I love peaches. They are my absolutely most favorite fruit and one of the best things in the summer.
{8.} My natural hair color is a light brown. It does get lighter in the sun, but I like to help it with blond highlights. The woman who does my hair is so good, people often think I'm a natural blond. It's silly, but it makes me happy :)
{9.} I've said this many times but I love coffee. There's nothing better in the summer than a delicious, cold frappe by the sea.
{10.} I don't like the heat in the summer. I like the sun and going to the beach and the long days but the extreme heat, especially in the city, just makes me feel very tired. This weekend it's going up to 39C (103F)! On days like that, I get up very early to enjoy the cool morning, try to get all my work done and then relax in my air-conditioned house :)
I read so many lovely blogs, it's hard for me to choose ten blogs to give the award to. These are just a few of my favorite blogs!
I'll be working on my Kai-Mei sock; I turned the heel yesterday and I hope I'll have a finished sock to show you on Monday. Have a great weekend!
Stash diet? You? Μα γιατί??
ReplyDeleteHappy knitting and spinning this weekend.

ReplyDeleteAw shucks, thanks!
ReplyDeleteCoffee by the sea. I agree, it doesn't get better than that!
ReplyDeleteStash diet. I'm doing my best but it ain't easy!
I am so flattered to be on your list. You would have been on mine except I noticed that you'd already been nominated!
I just found your blog and feel so lucky to have done so! I'm a second-generation Greek-American living in Boston, trying to hold on to my culture. I've been scouring the web for websites written in Greek to keep my reading skills sharp, and was so excited to find a knitting blog in Greek!
ReplyDeleteAnd whenever I get the chance to make it back to Greece to visit family, I'll be sure to stop in Thessaloniki at your knitting group!
Yay- thank you! It has been years since I had a blog award. I loved your list- I'll try to do my own this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the blog award. I was so surprised to read my name on it. I have really enjoyed reading your ten things. I am looking forward to seeing the spinning wheel. My friend started a knitting group over here but we only get an average of six people. A select gathering. I am sure yours will pick up.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! Yay for spinning wheels! That's wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award so much! I've been slow in responding because a few people motivated me and I've been meaning to put together a post including all of you! : )
ReplyDeleteSo exciting for your knitting group! Let us know more about it!
It's nearing 40 C here in my part of Canada; that frappe by the beach looks heavenly!
