My first dishcloth!

I have to admit that when I first heard of knitting dishcloths, I thought it was something I would never do. Then I saw the beautiful Ballband Dishcloth in Mason-Dixon Knitting and I completely changed my mind! I had to make that it! I started to feel sorry for my kitchen, that I never took care of it, when other kitchens had pretty dishcloths in bright colors... Also, it's cotton and I love knitting with cotton.

So, I bought some yarn (I know I already had some, but I'm always looking for an excuse) and I sat down to make my first dishcloth. After 10 rows I had the pattern memorized. I knit a little in the morning, I knit while I was watching the evening news and all of a sudden, it was finished. It's unbelievably fast and fun!

Το πρώτο μου πανάκι για την κουζίνα

Πρέπει να ομολογήσω ότι όταν άκουσα πρώτη φορά για πλεκτά πανάκια για την κουζίνα, είπα ότι δεν πρόκειται ποτέ να φτιάξω. Μετά όμως είδα τα πανέμορφα Ballband Dishcloth στο βιβλίο Mason-Dixon Knitting και άλλαξα αμέσως γνώμη! Έπρεπε να φτιάξω αυτό το πανάκι! Άρχισα να λυπάμαι την κουζίνα μου, σκέφτηκα ότι ποτέ δεν την περιποιήθηκα, ενώ άλλες κουζίνες είχαν αυτά τα όμορφα πανάκια σε έντονα χρώματα... Επίσης είναι βαμβακερό και μου αρέσει να πλέκω με βαμβάκι.

Έτσι, πήγα και αγόρασα νήμα (το ξέρω ότι είχα ήδη, αλλά πάντα ψάχνω δικαιολογία για να αγοράσω) και κάθισα να το φτιάξω. Μετά τις 10 πρώτες σειρές, είχα μάθει το σχέδιο απ'έξω. Έπλεξα λίγο το πρωί, έπλεξα το βράδυ την ώρα που έβλεπα ειδήσεις και ξαφνικά, είχε τελειώσει. Είναι απίστευτα γρήγορο και διασκεδαστικό!

Το σχέδιο είναι το Ballband Dishcloth και το έφτιαξα με Katia Cotton Club.

Είναι διασκεδαστικό, πρακτικό και καλό για το περιβάλλον! Δεν είναι περίεργο λοιπόν, που σήμερα ξεκίνησα άλλο ένα! Με Katia Cotton Club και Katia Panama.

New spring patterns!

The Spring 2009 issue of Knotions will be up next week. They have already posted a preview and the designs are gorgeous! I love the Bome Cardi by Maria Leigh. What a beautiful cardigan for spring, it looks like a garden of flowers...

The bags are very nice too, a lovely combination of pretty fabrics and knitting!

Το ανοιξιάτικο τεύχος του Knotions θα βγει την επόμενη εβδομάδα και έχουν ήδη αναρτήσει φωτογραφίες στην ιστοσελίδα τους. Τα σχέδια φαίνονται πανέμορφα! Λατρεύω το Bome Cardi της Maria Leigh. Πολύ όμορφο ζακετάκι για την άνοιξη, μοιάζει σαν κήπος με λουλούδια...

Και οι τσάντες είναι πολύ ωραίες, υπέροχος συνδυασμός όμορφων υφασμάτων και πλεξίματος!

A winter jacket

I'm finally almost done with the striped T-shirt! Pictures soon...

I've decided to continue working on a jacket I started a while ago. It's from Drops and I love the design. The reason I stopped working on it is that I forgot the buttonholes. And the pattern says (in two places I think) remember the buttonholes! When something like this happens, I get mad at my knitting and I start something else...

So, the right side needs more work. I've been debating whether I should just rip out and reknit that part, or if I should try EZ's afterthought buttonhole. The yarn is bulky, so I don't know if it will look nice...

Drops 103-1 Jacket in Eskimo or Silke-Alpaca with A-shape

I'm knitting the Eskimo version (very fast!) with 3 strands of yarn held together: Mondial Artico (white), and Grignasco Sport 90 (light pink and dark pink).

If I rip it out, I have to find my notes, because the pattern goes by length, not number of rows, so I need to know exactly how many rows I knit on the left side. The notes... Where did I put the notes?

Μια ζακέτα για το χειμώνα

Επιτέλους έχω σχεδόν τελειώσει το πουλόβερ! Φωτογραφίες σύντομα...

Αποφάσισα να συνεχίσω μια ζακέτα/σακάκι που είχα ξεκινήσει, πριν καιρό. Είναι από το Drops και είναι πάρα πολύ ωραίο σχέδιο. Σταμάτησα να το δουλεύω γιατί είχα ξεχάσει τις τρύπες για τα κουμπιά. Και οι οδηγίες λένε (σε δύο σημεία νομίζω) μην ξεχάσετε τις τρύπες για τα κουμπιά! Όταν συμβαίνει κάτι τέτοιο, θυμώνω με το πλεκτό μου και αρχίζω κάτι άλλο.

Οπότε η δεξιά πλευρά χρειάζεται δουλειά... Δεν μπορώ να αποφασίσω αν πρέπει να το ξηλώσω ή να χρησιμοποιήσω την τεχνική της Elizabeth Zimmermann, που διορθώνει το πρόβλημα χωρίς να χρειάζεται να το ξαναπλέξεις. Το μαλλί είναι χοντρό όμως και δεν ξέρω αν θα δείχνει ωραίο...

Το σχέδιο έχει δύο εκδοχές - κάνω αυτήν για το χοντρό μαλλί (πολύ γρήγορο!) και χρησιμοποιώ Mondial Artico (άσπρο) και Grignasco Sport 90 (ανοιχτό και σκούρο ροζ).

Αν το ξηλώσω, πρέπει να βρω τις σημειώσεις μου, γιατί οι οδηγίες πάνε με το μήκος, όχι με τον ακριβή αριθμό των σειρών, οπότε πρέπει να ξέρω ακριβώς πόσες σειρές έχω πλέξει στην αριστερή πλευρά. Οι σημειώσεις μου... Πού να είναι άραγε;
