Japanese crochet flower shawl in progress

Hi everyone! It's getting cold here and I love it. It really feels like weather for knitting. I don't have an update yet on the stash situation, because I've been afraid to do anything. We went to Thessaloniki last weekend and I just haven't found the time since we got back. I did however find another project in progress and I think I haven't written about it at all on the blog.

A while ago I started seeing pictures of a cute crochet shawl on Ravelry, from some japanese book or magazine. Then Lucy from Attic24 wrote about it and started looking to find more projects. It's a very pretty pattern and looks great with multi colored yarns. My crochet skills aren't the best, but looking at some pictures and some notes on various blogs, I was able to figure out the pattern.

The yarn I'm using is Four Seasons Grundl Hot Socks Spectra. I was thrilled when I saw these yarns at Noulikas yarn store in Thessaloniki last winter. This yarn looks like a single ply and is a good substitute for some of the Noro yarns, as well as Kauni, Zauberball and Mini Mochi. I'm always happy to see more options in local shops.

I'm using three colorways and cutting out some of the colors that I don't like. One is mostly purple, one is beige and brown and the third one is blue, turquoise and purple. I don't know if there is enough yarn for two shawls, I might use the leftover yarn in a different project.

My original plan was to not block the flowers, but some of them are really curling up so I'm not sure now. I might block them lightly before I join them. I think this will be very fun to wear and I'm excited about working on this project again!
