Something a bit different - 3KCBWDAY5

It's the fifth day of the Knitting and Crochet Blog Week and it's the topic everyone has been waiting for! Something different... I had so much fun writing my poem last year, that I decided to write another one! I hope you enjoy it!

After midnight

A knitter is up, late at night
the end of a difficult sweater in sight.
She says, at a quarter to one,
"A few more rows and I'll be done!"

Her doubts set in when the sleeves will not.

She goes into the kitchen and eats some cake
then she tries to fix her mistake.
It doesn't work and at a quarter to two
she gives up and looks for something to do.

It's late and she's tired, she should go to bed
but a little idea just popped into her head.
"I can look at some patterns, just to calm down"
soon a smile replaces her frown.

She gets lots of ideas about things she can make
and dreams of cardigans, as she eats the whole cake.

Suddenly she's browsing her favorite shop
looking for yarn to make a new top.
She'll knit gloves and mittens and a new hat
then sweaters for everyone, even the cat.

She should resist, but it's very hard;
soon she's holding her credit card.
Just before she clicks the button to buy
some yarn from her stash catches her eye.

There's a lot of yarn there, ready to use
so much that she won't even be able to choose.
Then she sees her poor sweater too
and has another idea about what she can do.

A few days later
she's wearing her sweater
when the postman arrives with something
and it isn't a letter.

As she puts her new, self-striping yarn in the stash
she's thankful she didn't spend all of her cash.

But one skein of sock yarn?

It's hard to say no...
As anyone knitting after midnight will know.
