So soft and pretty

Jacques Cousteau hat

This is my first finished project in 2012 and I love it! My father had asked me to knit him a hat and he described what he wanted: a warm hat with a simple pattern, that will fold over and cover his ears. When I saw the Jacques Cousteau hat pattern, I knew it was perfect.



I used two strands of yarn - a sport weight and a fingering weight and I only cast on 100 sts. I was a little worried about the size - my experience with modifying hat patterns has not been the best - but in the end, the size was just right.

My father loves his new hat and he's been wearing it a lot. It's been snowing a bit these days and I'm very happy that I knit it so fast and that he can enjoy it now that its cold!



Το πρώτο πλεκτό που τελείωσα το 2012 είναι ένα σκουφάκι για τον πατέρα μου! Μου είχε ζητήσει να του πλέξω ένα και μου περιέγραψε τι ήθελε: ένα ζεστό σκουφάκι, με απλό σχέδιο, που θα διπλώνει από κάτω και θα καλύπτει τα αυτιά του. Όταν είδα το σχέδιο Jacques Cousteau, ήξερα ότι ήταν τέλειο.

Έβαλα δύο νήματα μαζί - ένα πιο χοντρό και ένα λεπτό και έριξα μόνο 100 πόντους. Ανησυχούσα λίγο για το μέγεθος, αφού η εμπειρία μου με το να αλλάζω σχέδια για σκουφάκια δεν είναι η καλύτερη, αλλά τελικά το μέγεθος ήταν ακριβώς αυτό που ήθελα.

Ο πατέρας μου λατρεύει το καινούριο του σκουφάκι και το έχει φορέσει ήδη πολύ. Χιονίζει λίγο αυτές τις μέρες και είμαι χαρούμενη που το έπλεξα γρήγορα και μπορεί να το φορέσει τώρα που κάνει κρύο!

New yarn: Shades of Light by Angelika

I didn't plan on being away from the blog for a week but I got sick last weekend and I finally feel better today. I did make some good knitting progress though; a virus combined with the coldest days of the year is perfect for sitting on the couch, under two blankets and knitting. I started a Whisper cardigan with my new orange wool from Holst and the Staggered Rib Scarf for my father. Although, what I really want to show you today is yarn. Beautiful, bright and happy yarn!



I recently got some new yarn from my friend Angelika. I've posted about her lovely yarn before and I really love the colors she uses. The exciting news is that she opened up a shop on Etsy! Her yarn is called Shades of Light and she has lots of yummy yarn bases. My favorite is Dehli, an amazing blend of wool and silk. It's soft and shiny and knits up into the most amazing fabric!

The new yarn I got from Angelika is in the Paris base and the colors were a custom order. This is a high twist sport weight merino yarn that feels lovely. I'm going to make a striped pullover with this yarn with wide stripes of each color. I wanted to make something happy and this yarn is perfect. I wish I could knit very very fast, because the sweater I see in my mind would be just perfect to wear today!

Δεν είχα σκοπό να λείψω μια ολόκληρη εβδομάδα αλλά αρρώστησα το προηγούμενο σαββατοκύριακο και σήμερα επιτέλους είμαι καλύτερα. Έπλεξα πολύ όμως, μια ίωση σε συνδυασμό με πολύ κρύο είναι ότι πρέπει για πλέξιμο στον καναπέ, κάτω από δύο κουβέρτες. Ξεκίνησα ένα ζακετάκι Whisper με το νέο πορτοκαλί νήμα από την Holst και το κασκόλ για τον πατέρα μου. Όμως, αυτό που θέλω πολύ να σας δείξω σήμερα είναι νήματα. Πανέμορφα, φωτεινά και χαρούμενα νήματα!

Πήρα πρόσφατα μερικά νήματα από τη φίλη μου την Angelika. Έχω γράψει πολλές φορές για τα υπέροχα νήματα που βάφει και λατρεύω τα χρώματα που χρησιμοποιεί. Τα συναρπαστικά νέα είναι ότι έχει ανοίξει μαγαζί στο Etsy! Τα νήματά της λέγονται Shades of Light και έχει πολλά διαφορετικά νήματα. Το αγαπημένο μου είναι το Dehli, ένα απίστευτο νήμα με μαλλί και μετάξι. Είναι πολύ απαλό και γυαλιστερό και πλεγμένο είναι τέλειο!

Το νέο νήμα που πήρα τώρα είναι το Paris και τα χρώματα ήταν ειδική παραγγελία. Είναι μερίνο, πιο χοντρό από νήμα για κάλτσες με πολύ ωραία υφή. Θα φτιάξω ένα ριγέ πουλόβερ, με φαρδιές ρίγες από κάθε χρώμα. Ήθελα να φτιάξω κάτι χαρούμενο και το νήμα αυτό είναι τέλειο. Εύχομαι να μπορούσα να πλέξω πάρα πολύ γρήγορα, γιατί το πουλόβερ που φαντάζομαι θα ήταν τέλειο για να το φορέσω σήμερα!

Είμαι πολύ ενθουσιασμένη επίσης γιατί η Angelika θα κάνει διαγωνισμό εδώ, για να γιορτάσει το καινούριο της μαγαζί - θα έχω περισσότερες λεπτομέρειες σύντομα!
